Title: CAD Designer / Drafter

Description:

E2PM is seeking a qualified applicant for a CAD Designer/Drafter with broad based expertise in infrastructure facilities and industrial and commercial buildings. Under direction of Senior-level Engineers and Project Managers, the ideal candidate will prepare preliminary and final design drawings with associated sections and details and must be proficient in steel, concrete, masonry, Drafting, and civil/site development.  The ideal candidate must have strong experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software, be a self-starter with strong technical design skills, and a keen eye for detail.  The role of this Senior CAD Designer is to produce high-quality, precise, and practical designs that meet project objectives, adhere to industry standards and satisfy the needs E2PM clients.

Typical Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with engineers and architects to ensure practicality and accuracy of designs.
  • Utilizing CAD software to create detailed 2D or 3D designs for complex projects (site maps, geological cross sections, engineering plans, construction details).
  • Interpreting information from recorded maps, land grants, deeds, and other documents.
  • Generating reports, maps, diagrams, and exhibits, on related printing/plotting equipment.
  • Selecting cartographic elements and developing effective presentations of information.
  • Performing work that involves conventional types of investigations, surveys or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
  • Performing drafting and/or permitting assignments.
  • Collaborating with engineers and other professionals on design concepts.
  • Ensuring that all drawings and designs are in line with project specifications and guidelines.
  • Using design software to revise, update, and correct drawings as necessary.
  • Providing technical guidance and assistance to the team in the use of CAD software.
  • Reviewing blueprints, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation if service is requested by the application engineer or project manager.
  • Presenting and explaining designs to clients and stakeholders.
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest design software and technology.
  • Maintaining a database of all firm CAD drawings, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible for future reference.

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field (Preferred).
  • 5-10 years of related designer/drafter experience within the A/E/C industry, primarily in NJ and NY.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Required); experience with HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, AutoTurn, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Strong technical design capabilities, including mathematics, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to review and revise designs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively within project budgets and schedules.
  • Capabilities to work with reference files and ensure document version control.
  • Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines without extensive supervision or instruction.
